President’s message 

The carnival season 2014 has been started in various cities and villages and the start of building the allegoric floats are in abundance. In the East European countries the New Year celebration (Epiphani) has been celebrated on 13^th January 2014. The famous 23^rd International Surva Games in Pernik was successful with delegations and groups from Albania, Poland, The Netherlands, Greece, Indonesia, Belgium, Serbia, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Italy, Montenegro, Russia, Macedonia and various Bulgarian municipalities. The Bulgarian Post has issued on 25^th January a special postal stamp with the image of the FECC president. From Guadeloupe we received the message that the carnival committee will apply for FECC membership.

Die Karnevalsaison 2014 ist in verschiedenen Staedte und Doerfer schon wieder angefangen und auch der Bau von Prunkwagen ist angefangen. In den Osteuropaischen Laender hat man das Neujahrfeier (Epiphani)am 13.Januar 2014 schon gefeiert. Das beruehmte 23.Internationale Surva Fest in Pernik war erfolgreich mit Delegationen und Gruppen aus Albanien,Polen, Die Niederlande, Griechenland, Indonesien, Belgien, Serbien, Slovenien, Hungarien, Tschechien ,Ukraine,  Sardinien(Italein) , Montenegro, Russland, Mazedonien und verschiedene Bulgarische Staedte. Das bulgarische Postwesen hat am 25.Januar  eine Sondermarke herausgegeben mit dem Bildnis des FECC Praesident. Aus das Insel Guadaloupe haben wir die Anfrage fuer FECC Mitgliedschaft empfangen.

Het carnavalseizoen 2014 is in de verschillende steden en dorpen aangevangen en tevens is ere een start gemaakt met de bouw van de praalwagens. In de Oosteuropese landen hebben  de nieuwjaarsfeesten volgens de Juliaanse kalender rond Epiphani op 13 januari 2014 plaats gevonden. Het bekende 23.Internationale Surva Festival in Pernik was een daverend succes met delegaties en groepen .Nederland was met het bestuur FECC Nederland goed vertegenwoordigd, verder waren er deelnemers uit Albanie, Griekenland, Indonesia, Belgie, Servie, Slovenie, Tsjechie, Italie, Montegro, Rusland, Macedonie, Oekraine en veel Bulgaarse steden. De Bulgaarse posterijen hebben een speciale postzegel uitgebracht met de beeltenis van de FECC president. Vanuit het caribische eiland Guadaloupe hebben wij de mededeling ontvangen dat zij lid wenst te worden van de FECC.

Belgium

Belgium is famous for his Mid lent carnivals. An exception is the carnival of Alost, where the carnival is between 28^th  February and 4^th March 2014.

The carnival of Louvain take place on 15^th March , the carnival of Arlon on 24^th March and La Roche Ardenne on 30^th March. The traditional carnival of Diest take place on 6^th April 2014. info :hendrickx.guido.annie@skynet.be 

Belgien ist bekannt fur seine Halbfastenkarnevals, eine Ausnahme ist den Karneval von Aalst, welche stattfindet zwischen 28.Februar und 4.Maerz 2014.

Der Karneval von Leuven finder stat tam 15.Maerz, der Karneval von Arlon am 24.Maerz und La Roche Ardenne am 30.Maerz. Der tradionelle Karneval findet stat tam 6.April 2014-02-01

Belgie staat bekend om zijn midvasten carnavals, een uitzondering is het carnaval van Aalst wat eveneens als in Nederland tussen 28 febr.en 4 maart plaats vindt.

Het carnaval van Leuven vindt plaats op 15 maart, het carnaval van Arlon op 24 maart en dat van La Roche Ardenne op 30 maart. Het traditionale carnaval van Diest vindt plaats op 6 april 2014.

Netherlands

All the Dutch carnivals will be celebrated between 27th February and 4TH March 2014. Famous cities are Maastricht and Den Bosch. On 2nd February 2014 will take place the famous Prinsentreffen in Nijmegen, where all the Princes carnival from the Benelux and Germany will gather. Moreover on 23th February is the CFU seniorball in Utrecht, on 1rst March the carnival of the CV Opsnaaiers takes place and on 3rdMarch the 40th Jubilee of the Seniors in Zeist. Alle Niederlaendischen Karnevals werden zwischen 27.Februar und 4.Maerz 2014 gefeiert. Beruehmte Karnevalsstaedte in den Niederlanden sind Maastricht und Den Bosch. Am 2.Februar 2014 findet das bekannte Prinsentreffen in Nimwegen statt, wo alle Prinzen Karneval aus die Benelux und Deutschland sich treffen. Weiterhin gibt’s in Utrecht Das CFU Seniorenball, am 1.Maerz der Karneval des CV Opsnaaiers und am 3.Maerz das Jubilaeumfeier der Senioren in Zeist.

Alle Nederlandse carnavals vinden tussen 27 februari en 4 maart 2014 plaats. Beroemde Nederlandse carnavals zijn Maastricht en Den Bosch. Op 2 februari a.s.vindt het bekende Prinsentreffen in de stad Nijmegen plaats waar de prinsen-carnaval uit de Benelux en Duitsland elkaar treffen. Op 23 februari a.s, organiseert de CFU in Utrecht een groot seniorenbal , op1 maart a.s. is er groot feest bij de CV De Opsnaaiers. Op 3 maart wordt het 40 jarig jubileum gevierd van de senioren uit Zeist.

Macedonia

The carnival of Strumiga will take place between 27^th February and  5^th March 2014. Also there will be a carnival in Prilep in the same weekend. Info : alexmkd@t-home.mk

Der Karneval von Strumiga findet statt zwischen 27.Februar und 5.Maerz 2014. Auch feiert die Stadt Prilep den Karneval am dem Gleichen Wochenende

Het carnaval van Strumiga wordt tussen 27 februari en 5 maart 2014 gevierd. Ook het carnaval van Prilep vindt in hetzelfde weekend plaats.

Slovenia

The annual Kurentovanje (carnival of Ptuj) will be celebrated between 2nd February and 4th Marc

Das jaehrliche Kurentovanje (Karneval von Ptuj) findet statt zwischen 2.Februar und 4.Maerz 2014, Das EtnoFest findet statt am 22.Februar und das grosse FECC Karnevalsfest findet in Ptuj statt am 2.Maerz 2014. Der Karnevalsumzug in Sostanje wird gefeiert am 1.Maerz und am 4.Maerz 2014 den Karnevalsumzug in Mozirje,
Het jaarlijkse feest Kurentovanje in Ptuj wordt tussen 2 februari en 4 maart 2014 gevierd. Het EtnoFest vindt plaats op 22 februari a.s. Ook viert Ptuj een exclusief FECC feest op 2 maart a.s. Tenslotte wordt het carnaval van Sostanje op 1  maart a.s. en het carnaval van Mozirje op 4 maart gevierd.

 Deutschland/Germany

Likewise in all the World the carnivaltime starts in Germany on 27^th February this year  with the “OLD WIFE”celebration and most of the carnivalparades will be on Rosenmontag (Roses Monday) 

The main carnivals you find in Dusseldorf, Cologne , Braunschweig and Mainz. Moreover Germany differents 2 types of carnivals namely Rhineland carnival and Allemanian carnival.The famous carnivalgala in the townhall of Cottbus takes place on 1rst February. The carnivalparade of Cottbus is on 2^nd March 2014. The childrenparade is on 4^th March 2014. Info ; Quentin.hirche@gmx.de

Wie in der ganzen Welt faengt der Karneval in Deutschland an am 27.Februar dieses Jahr mit Altweiberfest. Die meisten Kernevalsumzuege finden stat tam Rosenmontag. Die grossten Karnevals sind Koeln, Duesseldorf, Braunschweig  und Mainz. In Deutschland gibt 2 Typen Karnevals : Allemanische Karneval und der Rheinlandkarneval. Das bekannte Karnevalsgala in Cottbus “Der Adler trett draus” findet stat tam 1.Februar im Rathaus. Der Karnevalsumzug in Cottbus findet statt am 2, Maerz und der Kinderumzug am 4.Maerz 2014.

Zoals overal in de wereld begint het carnival op 27 februari, in Duitsland met het “oudewijvenbal”. De meeste carnavalsoptochten vinden plaats op Rosenmontag. De belangrijkste carnavals in Duitsland zijn Keulen, Dusseldorf, Braunschweig en Mainz. In Duitsland kan men  2 typen carnaval onderscheiden n .l. net allemanisch en het rijnland carnaval. Het beroemdce carnavalsgala “Der Adler trett aus” vindt plaats in het stadhuis van Cottbus op 1 februari en de optocht in Cottbus op 2 maart en de kinderoptocht op 4 maart a.s.

Trinidad & Tobago

On 22nd January 2014 there was a meeting between the ambassador of Trinidad & Tobago in Brussels H.Exc.Ms.Margaret King-Rousseau and the FECC president and FECC officials from FECC Netherlands. The ambassador informs us that the National carnival commission intends to apply for membership. Trinidad & Tobago wants a better relationship with the European carnivals / countries

Am 22.Januar  2014 war ein Treffen zwischen den Botschafter von Trinidad & Tobago in Brussel Ihre Exz.Frau Margaret King-Rousseau und den FECC Praesident mit einer Delegation aus FECC-Niederlande. Der Botschafter teilte uns mit das die Nationale Karnevalkommission eine Anfrageg fuer FECC Mitglied stellt.Trinidad & Tobago moechte eine bessere Beziehung

mit den Europaischen Karnevals  

Op 22 januari j.l. heeft er een ontmoeting plaats gevonden tussen de ambassadeur van Trinidad & Tobago in Brussel H.Exc.Mevr.Margaret King-Rousseau en de FECC president en een delegatie van FECC-Nederland. De ambassadeur deelde ons mee dat de nationale carnavalscomité het FECC lidmaataschap wil aanvragen. Trinidad & Tobago wenst een betere contact met de Europese carnavals.

Italy

All the main Italian carnivals like Viareggio, Putignano, Ivrea, Fano, Massafra , Cento etc. take place from 15^th February until 4^th March and Viareggio until 9^th March 2014.

Celebrated annually since the year 1394, when the Knights of St John commenced to transfer the relics of St Stephen inland to Putignano from Monopoli for safety and attracted a following of curious peasants, who were overjoyed with the honour awarded to their town. On its arrival at Putignano the pilgrim crowd dusted their faces with flour to exhibit purity then attended a Mass… and, a Carnival was born.
The flour used by the peasants of the age was Farinella, a mixture of ground chickpeas and barley, and this is the name given to the spirit of the Carnival who can be seen and felt commencing from 26th December until its end on Shrove Tuesday in one of the world’s largest float parades in Putignano

Alle wichtigen Italianischen Karnevals wie Viareggio, Putignano, Ivrea, Fano, Massafra, Cento u,s,w, finden statt von 15.Februar bis 4.Maerz und ausnahme Viareggio bis 9.Maerz 2014.

Alle belangrijkste italiaanse carnavals zoals Viareggio, Putignano, Ivrea, Fano, Massafra, Cento etc. vinden plaats tussen 15 februari totr 4 maart met uitzondering van Viareggio tot 9 maart a.s. Het carnaval van Lugagnano di Sona (Verona) wordt gevierd op 21 en 22 maart a.s.

Croatia/Hrvatska

All the wintercarnivals in Croatia take place between 22nd February and 4th March. Main carnivals are Rijeka, Samobor, Dubrovnik, Pag, Opatija, Senj , Senkovec etc.

The Rijeka international carnivalparade is the largest one in the Adriatic will take place on 2^nd March 2014  info: petar@tz-rijeka.hr

Alle Winterkarnevals in Kroatien finden statt zwischen 22.Februar und 4.Maerz 2014. Wichtige Kroatischen Karnevals sind Rijeka, Samibor,Dubrovnik, Opatija, Senj u.s.w.

Der internationale  Karnevalsumzug von Rijeka ist der groesste im Adriatik und findet stat tam 4.Maerz 2014.

Alle Kroatische wintercarnavals vinden plaats tussen 22 februari en 4 maart a.s. De belangrijkste carnavals zijn Rijeka, Samobor, Dubrovnik, Pag, Opatija, Senj, Senkovac etc.

De grote internationale carnavalsoptocht van Rijeka is de grootste van de Adri en vindt plaats op 4 maart 2014.

Rijeka, stealing mostly from the winter and just a little bit from the spring, has created its own unique fifth season. It is called the Carnival. And the Carnival in Rijeka has always been written with a capital “C” and enjoyed wholeheartedly for as long as people can remember. — rijecki-karneval.hr
